Organics Management to Reduce Methane and Combat Climate Change

This website contains materials related to the Washington State workgroup on Organics Management to Reduce Methane and Combat Climate Change.  This workgroup is meeting between August 2024 – January 2024 with the following purpose and role:

Purpose: Divert orgnic material and improve the organic material management system in Washington state in order to reduce methane and combat climate change and provide certainty for future action.

Meeting Schedule:

Meetings take place on the on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month between 3-4:30pm, with exceptions listed below.

3. Thurs., September 5: Operator training; Food waste tracking and flow map (Use Food Well WA recommendations)
4. Thurs., September 19: School food waste (Use Food Well WA recommendations)
5. Thurs., October 3: C&D waste study; Offal
6. Thurs., October 10: Load rejection; Bin color
7. Thurs., October 24: Education focused on participation and keeping it clean; Permitting, siting, and air quality
8. Thurs., October 31
9. Wed., November 13: Multi-family source separation; Enforcement
10. Thurs., November 21: Compostable products; Food date labeling
11. Thurs., December 12
12. Thurs., January 2
