This website contains materials related to the Washington State workgroup on Organics Management to Reduce Methane and Combat Climate Change. This workgroup is meeting between August 2024 – January 2024 with the following purpose and role:
Purpose: Divert orgnic material and improve the organic material management system in Washington state in order to reduce methane and combat climate change and provide certainty for future action.

Meeting Schedule:
Meetings take place on the on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month between 3-4:30pm, with exceptions listed below.

- Wed., August 21: Carbon sequestration; Pesticide residuals
- Thurs., September 5: Operator training; Food waste tracking and flow map (Use Food Well WA recommendations)
- Thurs., September 19: School food waste (Use Food Well WA recommendations)
- Thurs., October 3: C&D waste study; Offal
- Thurs., October 10: Load rejection; Bin color
- Thurs., October 24: Education focused on participation and keeping it clean; Permitting, siting, and air quality

- Wed., November 13: Multi-family source separation; Enforcement
- Thurs., November 21: Compostable products; Food date labeling
